OUR SEARCH FOR A CHARITY TO SUPPORT THROUGH FUNDRAISING THIS YEAR HAS BEEN THOROUGH AND EXCITING. FINALLY, AFTER MUCH CONSIDERATION AND COMMUNICATION WITH MANY DESERVING CAUSES, WE’VE CHOSEN TO SUPPORT NEWPORT WOMEN’S AID.
Newport Women’s Aid was established in September 1975. It is an organisation run by women, serving women in the community, who are suffering from domestic abuse. NWA are committed to providing temporary accommodation, information and support to women and children who are experiencing domestic abuse or living in fear of abuse.
The £2,500 raised will assist Newport Women’s Aid to continue providing group work programmes such as the Freedom Programme and Recovery Tool Kit.
Tori Brown, the service manager for Newport Women’s Aid, said, “The support from Steps Training will enable us to continue running programmes to support women in gaining the confidence they need to protect themselves and their children from abuse and to make informed choices about their future – thank you so much for your support, it is greatly appreciated by Newport Women’s Aid.
Last year 110 women attended the Freedom Programme and with this amazing donation we will be able to continue providing this service in the future to support more women who have been affected by domestic abuse.”
