Gina’s live music & raffle event to help end homelessness
Buffalo Bar, Cardiff
July 20th, 7pm
My name is Gina and I’ve been volunteering to help raise funds and awareness for Llamau for 3 ½ years. I have taken part in 3 Sleep Outs and am about to hold my 3rd fundraising event with live music, auction and raffle off some amazing prizes. I’ve also helped at other events and never tire of promoting Llamau.
I came about volunteering and recently becoming an Ambassador by chance. I was leaving a multi storey car park and came across a young man who was sobbing crying, soaked to the skin and carrying a very wet sleeping bag. There was nothing I could do. The lights had gone green, cars were beeping their horns at me and despite going around again I never saw that young man again and to this day feel awful that I couldn’t help him personally. I drove home that day with tears in my eyes and drove passed Llamau’s HQ and saw the big sign about ‘Sleep Out’ and knew I had to take part. If I couldn’t help that kid I could help someone somewhere and I’ve never looked back.

I’ve never come across such passionate people as those who work for Llamau. By chance I’ve also spoken to 2 people that came through their programme and I’ve seen the results of what Llamau has done for those 2 young adults.
On a personal level, I have a very good job, a home, a loving family and I travel a lot to go and see live music. I’m fortunate that I can do that. Giving up what time or skills I have to help raise funds and awareness is a no brainer for me. In today’s society no one should be homeless or in a vulnerable situation.
If you want to come to my event then tickets are just £10. Raffle prizes are mainly sport and music memorabilia as is the auction but there is some other stuff up for grabs, all of which can be found on the JustGiving page below.
Thank you to Steps Training for giving me the option to talk about why I am doing this and how you can help support whilst having a good time yourselves.
